Bad Trader
Bad Trader was a mobile app designed to challenge the social and professional norms of trading by hosting live events with edgier, more unconventional talk shows. The overall design centered on rewarding viewers for engagement and community participation, while also allowing them to connect their tastytrade account to trade alongside the hosts.

01
Branding / Styles
Bad Trader aimed to capture the vibe of a favorite hole-in-the-wall bar. Together with a team of two other designers, I developed a grungy, neon-inspired visual language that carried across the app, web, and branding.

02
Avatars
Avatars were one of the many rewards customers could earn by contributing to live streams, winning bets with a fake in-app currency, or completing challenges presented by the hosts. They gave customers something to strive for and wear with honor - or dishonor - beyond the daily stress of the markets.

03
Mobile
Continuing the “dark and glowy” bar theme, the app’s UI leveraged those colors and styles wherever possible to draw attention to key features. The structure minimized extraneous information, keeping streaming and communication as the sole focus.

04
Post-Season Recap
At the end of each season, the recap - modeled after Spotify’s “Wrapped” - gave customers insight into their performance over that period. Each visual was created in Illustrator and isolated so customers could share or screenshot their results for bragging rights.
